“The piano is not coming. The buyers are keeping it.”

From the sample survey

Moving

  • Sofa
  • Armchair
  • Bookcase

Staying

  • Piano
  • Washer
  • Dryer

Keep the instruction. Exclude staying items from moving volume.

The same room can contain several different jobs

A sofa may go to the new home, a cabinet to storage and an old mattress to disposal. Keep those intentions on the inventory instead of expecting one room note to explain the plan for every item. Your estimator can also flag the pieces that need particular care.

How it works in practice

  1. Step 1

    Set each item's plan

Choose move, stay, store, discard, donate, sell or customer takes. A room default helps with a shared instruction, while the item records who set its disposition.

  2. Step 2

    Record handling requirements

Mark fragile, heavy, crate, disassemble or two-person items. Check cartons seen in the video alongside the customer's packing choice before quoting.

  3. Step 3

    Check separate totals

Moving volume and haul-away volume are totaled separately, so the estimator can see which part of the inventory each figure describes.

What is included

  • A plan for every item

Mark an item move, stay, store, discard, donate, sell or customer takes, with a record of who set it and a default for the room.

  • Moving and haul-away volume totaled apart

Cubic feet to move and cubic feet to haul away are totaled separately.

  • Cartons in the video counted and priced

Cartons that appear in the video are counted and priced.

What to keep in mind

An item plan records an instruction; it does not book storage, arrange a donation collection or confirm that a disposal provider will accept an item. Confirm those arrangements with the customer.

Do items marked staying count toward moving volume?

No. Items kept at the property are excluded from the moving total. Moving and haul-away cubic feet are shown separately, and your estimator can check each item's plan.
